Can cladding increase the value of my home?

I'm often asked by customers if cladding their property will increase the value of their home.

It's a fair question. But I'm afraid the answer is usually: 'It depends!'

Certainly, cladding can potentially increase the value of your property, as it can improve the aesthetic appeal and durability of your home's exterior.

They say you never get a second chance to make a first impression, so the first visual impression a potential buyer has better be good!

I've clad hundreds of properties over the years, and the owners who have subsequently sold up tell me they more than got their money back upon sale.

However, the amount that it increases the value of your property will depend on several factors, such as the type and quality of the cladding, the local real estate market, and the overall condition of your property.

If you choose a high-quality cladding material that is installed professionally and complements the architectural style of your home, it can increase the appeal of your property, which may attract more potential buyers and lead to a higher sale price.

Additionally, certain types of cladding, such as fibre cement weatherboards, can improve the energy efficiency of your home, which may also be attractive to buyers and increase the value of your property. You can read my post on how energy efficiency can be improved here.

However, it's important to note that cladding is just one factor that can impact the value of your property, and it may not necessarily guarantee an increase in value.

Other factors, such as location, size, layout, and overall condition of your property, will also play a significant role in determining its value.

I would always recommended to consult with a local real estate agent or appraiser to get a better understanding of how cladding may impact the value of your specific property in your local market.
